Kingfisher RTUs can be found in mining applications that include coalfields, gold mines, uranium mines and various mineral sands and metals mines. The RTUs are used both above and below ground to perform monitoring and control of a wide range of equipment and services.
The RTUs provide monitoring of operational data such as ground water depth, slope movement and the status and position of excavation equipment. In below ground applications, the RTUs typically communicate via radio over leaky co-ax and functions include monitoring and control of underground pump stations, power substations, exhaust fans and personnel safety systems. The RTUs are often housed on skid mounted frames that allow easy transportation as the mine site requirements change.
Most mining sites use and discharge considerable quantities of water, hence Kingfisher RTUs are used to control bore field pumps. transfer pumps and storage and treatment facilities. The environmental safety requirements also mean that RTUs are used at discharge and downstream monitoring points to ensure compliance with mine licences and environmental laws.
