Improving System Efficiency with a Remote Telemetry Unit

experiencepicThe competitive demand for high standards of customer service and aggressive cost control has led to the design of automated monitoring and control systems that allow an entire operation to be run remotely.

Computers running SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) software, allow the current state of equipment at remote locations to be viewed using a variety of colour and symbol representations and allow operator interaction with control decisions made by the telemetry system.

Kingfisher RTUs provide both important operational data and manual or automatic control of devices at remote locations. For example in a water distribution system, reservoir and tank levels can be controlled by the automated control of pump stations and diversion valves. A Kingfisher Telemetry system allows a number of control strategies to be active that are based on dynamic system data, that can include variables such as the weather (expected demand), availability of water, status of pumps and other equipment, the cost of power (ie. peak or off-peak tariff) and the priority of the system 'events'. Pump station RTUs provide statistics for each pump that include starts, hours run, manage rotation of pump duty and allow analysis of pump efficiency.

Kingfisher Telemetry is widely used in many other industries including wastewater, power, oil, gas, mining, transportation, and broadcast, just to name a few. Kingfisher RTU solutions are so effective that they will pay for themselves within a very short time.
